Exterior bits like the Sarthe Grey body shade, retro alloy wheels and a roof scoop pay homage to the 1995 F1 GTR.
The cabin gets carbon-fibre race seats, orange or grey Alcantara upholstery accents, extended paddle shifters and more.
It retains the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, producing 720PS/770Nm.
Chassis number will begin from 298, a recognition of the number of laps completed by the race-winning F1 GTR.
Deliveries to commence by September 2020.
2020 marks 25 years since the McLaren F1 GTR, piloted by Yannick Dalmas, Masanori Sekiya, and JJ Lehto, took victory at the 1995 Le Mans 24hrs in La Sarthe. What’s special about this win is that it was the carmaker’s first race at Le Mans with a production-based car. To celebrate the occasion, McLaren has revealed the 720S Le Mans Edition. This limited-run 720S features a variety of bits that pay homage to the race-winning F1 GTR.
Starting from the outside, the 720S Le Mans is offered in a unique two-tone body shade consisting of Sarthe Grey at the top and Ueno Grey at the bottom. This color combination is a throwback to the body shade that was present in the 1995 F1 GTR. It also gets a Mclaren orange upper half body shade as an option. Other design highlights include F1 GTR-like five-spoke retro alloy wheels, louvered front fenders, a roof scoop, gold-plated brake calipers and ‘McLaren 25 anniversary Le Mans’ badging on the side skirts. You also get the option of carbon fibre accents on places like the rear diffuser, air intakes and roof scoop.
Going inside, the special edition 720S is treated to an option of grey or orange accents for the Alcantara upholstery. Other interior alterations include carbon fibre racing seats, ‘McLaren 25 anniversary Le Mans’ badging all around, six-point race harnesses, extended paddle shifters, and a 12 o'clock steering wheel marker that matches the interior trim.
It remains mechanically unchanged under the hood, powered by a 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 that produces 720PS of power and 770Nm of torque. Paired to a 7-speed SSG gearbox, it goes from 0-100kmph in 2.9 seconds and tops out at 341 kmph.
Only 50 units of the 720S Le Mans edition will be produced, out of which 16 will be sold in Europe. The chassis numbers for these special edition models will begin from 298, which signifies the number of laps completed by the race-winning F1 GTR. Deliveries are set to begin in September 2020.
