It's an exciting time to be in for auto enthusiasts. Every week we are introduced to groundbreaking technology that once seemed impossible. Now, it just sees to be a part of routine reality.
At this year's Tokyo Motor Show, Honda will be showcasing a self-balancing and self-riding motorcycle concept. Yes, it is the second display of the same technology that was earlier introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show.
This time though, the technology will receive a future-oriented platform as it will use the NC700's frame but the chassis will hold an electric motor instead.
The bike will also come with a rear-facing radiator and an open-panel battery. The bike is essentially shaft-driven with a single-sided swingarm. Unlike all the other self-balancing bikes introduced by various automakers so far, this is the only one that runs on robotics instead of gyroscopes, much like the Honda Asimo robot and Uni-Cub mobility scooter.
It is an amazing concept for people who are fearful about balancing a heavy bike; those who are too young or too old for it. It really takes away a lot of the anxiety that a new learner faces while riding a bike as the bike balances itself through the handlebars at low speeds.
With the auto industry taking the e-route and the best of technology being shot out of a cannon, our streets might end up looking revolutionarily different in a few years from what they do now.
