Mercedes-Benz A-Class And B-Class 'Night Edition' Launched

Mercedes-Benz has launched their first product(s) for the 2017 calendar year today. The A-Class 'Night Edition' and B-Class 'Night Edition' variants have joined the respective lineups. 

Limited to 100 units each, the 'Night Edition' variants of the A-Class and B-Class feature predominantly black exteriors and some new features on the inside. The 2017 Mercedes-Benz A-Class Night Edition A 180 is priced at Rs 27.31 Lakh, while the A 200 d is priced at Rs 28.32 Lakh. The 2017 Mercedes-Benz B-Class Night Edition B 180 is priced at Rs 29.34 Lakh while the B 200 d is priced at Rs 30.35 Lakh. All prices are ex-showroom Pune.

The Night Edition adds black coloured features to the facelift that the A-Class had been given in December 2015, to make it look more sporty. The changes here include black ORVM covers, black high-gloss belt-line trim, black hub caps and black high-gloss front and rear bumper trims. The car is also fitted with the 'Urban' styling package which adds a black diamond grille with gloss black louvre and chrome inserts, 17-inch high-gloss 5-spoke alloy wheels and a two-pipe chrome-tipped exhaust. A 'Night Edition' badge wraps up the changes on the outside.

The A-Class already featured a stylish interior by default. Taking the styling a notch above, the Night Edition variants get a leather-wrapped 3-spoke multifunction steering, leather wrapped gear-stalk and a larger 8-inch multifunction infotainment screen (the standard car features a 7-inch screen). The 'Urban' styling package adds ARTICO man-made leather-and-fabric sports seats with contrast top stitching. The new infotainment system is smartphone compatible with both Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay connectivity offered as standard.

On the other hand, the B-Class Night Edition features 17-inch, 5-spoke black light-alloy wheels, black ORVMs, high-gloss black beltline trim and high-gloss black front and rear bumper trims. The variants also feature 'Night Edition' badges. On the inside, the changes are limited to the ARTICO man-made leather sports seats and the 8-inch infotainment screen with smartphone integration. The B-Class features a three-spoke leather-wrapped steering as standard with paddle shifters for that added sporty appeal. The rear seats can be folded in a 60:40 ratio and folded flat to increase luggage space from 488 litres to 1547 litres. The B-Class has been given a facelift in March 2015.

The A-Class and B-Class are powered by two engines - one petrol and one diesel - both of which are paired to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. The A 180 and B 180 are powered by a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol motor developing 122PS of maximum power and 200Nm of torque. Whereas, the A 200 d and B 200 d are powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel motor developing 136PS of maximum power and 300Nm of peak torque. Both the cars are also offered with Dynamic Select with 4 drive modes - Comfort, Sport, Eco and Individual. Standard safety features on both cars include a reversing camera, ESP, ABS, BAS and 6-airbags.
