Along with the launch of the 2015 B-Class, Mercedes-Benz also introduced the new A-Class. The new A-Class diesel has been priced at Rs 26.95 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai), while the petrol trim A180 Sport costs Rs 25.95 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai).
Unlike the facelifted B-Class, the A-Class continues to look exactly the same. Upfront it has the diamond grille with the massive three-pointed star logo in the centre with LED striped headlights on either side. The wide front bumper with the larger air dams and the pronounced lip spoiler adds to the aggressive look of the A-Class. In profile and at the back too, the A-Class’ design remains unchanged.
At the heart of things, the petrol A180 Sport will continue to have the 1.6-litre inline 4-cylinder engine that pumps power of 122 horses and 200Nm. In diesel though, the A-Class will now sport the same engine that is also seen on the B-Class launched today. The A200 CDI Sport now gets a 2.2-litre unit that makes 136PS and 300Nm. Mercedes says that the suspension of the A-Class has been tweaked to provide a plush ride quality. Aside from these changes, the new A-Class will get sunroof as standard equipment.
The B-Class is the third launch from the Mercedes-Benz stable in this year following the CLA-Class and the C-Class diesel. The A-Class they say is not part of the 15 launches that they have planned for 2015.
