Mercedes-Benz announced its best ever sales figures in monthly, quarterly and fiscal timeframes. At the end of March 2016, the brand with the three-pointed star sold 13,558 units in the 2015-16 fiscal year while the first quarter of the 2016 calendar year and March also proved to be its highest-grossing quarter and month respectively.

According to Mercedes-Benz, its Delhi NCR dealerships were negatively impacted by the restriction on diesel vehicle registration. However, this de-growth in the region was compensated by a strong demand in other markets across the country.

As a part of its best fiscal year, the company’s best quarter (January 2016-March 2016) sold 3,622 units while the best monthly sales ever were recorded in March 2016. Fiscally, the German automaker has registered a growth of around 11 per cent doing better than the 11,213 units that it sold in the 2014-15 period.

The E-Class, celebrating 20 years in India, was the highest selling car model for Mercedes-Benz in the first quarter of 2016, said Mercedes-Benz. The E-Class’ popularity was closely followed by the C-Class which remained a significant volume contributor in Q1 2016. Apart from the sedans, the SUV portfolio comprising the GLA, GLE and the GL also grew in Q1 2016.

On the occasion, managing director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, Roland Folger said, “It is a significant achievement for us, as we have maintained our growth momentum in Q1 2016, despite facing multiple market challenges. We have been able to compensate the negative sales impact in the Delhi and NCR market, with a strong double digit growth achieved in most other markets across the country.
