The Concept EQT previews the upcoming T-Class range.
It will be positioned below the V-Class across all markets when it arrives in 2022.
The range will consist of petrol, diesel, and electric versions, with the last one under the EQ lineup.
Specifications have not been revealed.
After teasing the T-Class in July last year, Mercedes-Benz has showcased the Concept EQT, an all-electric MPV that previews the upcoming compact T-Class. The MPV will get petrol, diesel, and electric powertrains. The electric version will be the next model in the carmaker’s EQ lineup.
The Concept EQT’s focus is on luxury. The exterior styling is premium, evident from the low-sitting stance, sliding rear doors on both sides, and sleek LED headlights that merge seamlessly into the ‘star’ pattern on the closed front grille. While the handsome front profile flaunts the bulky shoulders and muscular lines (on the bonnet and along the side), the rear looks relatively muted, with just the connected tail lights lending that touch of premiumness.
Inside, the cabin has got a black-white dual-tone treatment. There is also a touch of blue, which is in sync with the EQ badge. Then there’s the MBUX touchscreen infotainment system that uses AI to learn your habits and constantly better usability.
To demonstrate how spacious the EQT is, Mercedes has cleverly stored an electric longboard in the load compartment. We think it’s a whip-smart move that underscores the T-Class’s basic idea -- the fact that it can be used for a range of purposes, including recreation.
Mercedes-Benz has not revealed the MPV’s specs yet. The T-Class will go on sale in 2022, with the electric EQT following soon after. Globally, it will be positioned below the V-Class vans. The T-Class range could also be introduced here in India at a later date.
