With the launch of the facelifted Mercedes-Benz CLA compact sedan on Wednesday, the German carmaker fulfilled its pledge of launching 12 cars in the year 2016. But since it’s not over until it’s over, the Chakan-based manufacturer could have a last trick up its sleeve. And the C43 AMG sedan could be its parting gift for the year, according to multiple reports in the media.
The car, which can plug the right gaps in the automaker’s Indian portfolio, is expected to be launched sometime later in December. On the sidelines of the CLA launch, Mercedes-Benz India boss, Roland Folger said to carandbike.com that the new launch would be ‘a sportier version of a very popular sedan.’
Speaking of sedans from the brand with the three-pointed star that are not available in India yet, the AMG C43 coupe comes to mind first; since all of the AMG S 63, the C 63 S and the CLA 45 are being sold in the country already. The car will check all the boxes when it comes to mid-level performance, pricing and looks.
Speaking of the car, it will boast the AMG characteristics like all other ‘43’ models and also the GT and ‘63’ models globally. Together with the AMG Performance 4Matic all-wheel drive and the model-specific chassis technology, this provides the optimum basis for high agility and exhilarating lateral dynamics, according to the company.
Powering the C43 AMG would be the 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbo engine that churns out an impressive 367PS of maximum power and 520Nm of peak torque. Along with the 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission, the motor is capable of propelling the car to 100kmph from dead halt in 4.7 seconds, with a top speed of 250kmph.
