Mercedes-Benz GL63 launched in India

Keeping true to their promise of launching almost the complete AMG range in India by the end of 2014, Mercedes-Benz today launched their range topping GL63 AMG in India at Rs 1.66 Crore (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The full sized Mercedes-Benz GL63 comes with a 5.5-litre, twin-turbo, V8 AMG engine with 565PS and a whopping 760Nm of torque. The GL63 comes with a standard 3 year warrantly without any mileage limitations and comes with an additional 4th year of warratny for an additional Rs 1.7 lakh. 

The Mercedes-Benz GL63 is capable of an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph and goes from 0-100kmph in only 5.5 seconds. The GL63 comes with all-wheel-drive 4-Matic system and a 40:60 split in power delivery between the front and rear wheels. The GL63’s V8 is mated to the AMG Speedshift Plus 7G-TRONIC gearbox, which offers seamless shifts. The AMG ride control sports suspension with the Airmatic package consists of special damper struts, active damping system and active rollbar stabilization.

Coming to Exterior design, the GL63 AMG comes with a new AMG grille with high-gloss black slats and a large centrally mounted Mercedes star. AMG styling elements include the front apron with its large openings that ensure an effective air flow for the cooling modules. The trim insert in matt silver chrome installed under the bumper creates a sense of width and goes well with the LED daylight running lights. The AMG front bumpers merge into the exclusive wheel-arch flaring which have been made to accommodate the larger 21-inch AMD wheels. At the rear end, the Mercedes-Benz GL63 gets a larger, sportier bumper with the trademark AMG quad-pipe exhaust pipe setup.

The GL63 AMG joins the SLS AMG, SLK55 AMG, C63, G63 and E63 AMG as a part of the Mercedes-Benz AMG lineup. Mercedes-Benz will launch the A45, CLA45, CLS63 and the ML63 AMG in the coming months to add to the lineup. The GL63 AMG will go up against the likes of the Range Rover Sport and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo.
