Mercedes-Benz is soon to introduce a new star to their current existing range. The GLS is going to the latest addition. It has been confirmed to be a face lifted version of the current on-going GL series. Upon observation the looks maintain the same design language as seen on the current GL-series. But it gets new headlamp and tail lamp unit similar to the ones found on the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class and C-Class. The Mercedes-Benz GLS receives the all LED headlights setup. The daytime running lights have been incorporated in the headlight itself. The front grille has been re-worked by providing slots on the chrome accents giving it a meaner look. The air ducts on the front bumper have been reshaped to allow more air to pass providing sufficient cooling for the diesel power plant.
Changes on the rear end have been very brief. The tail lamps have been redesigned to go in sync with the headlights. Apart from that the other change noticed is a reworked rear diffuser. Images of the interior have not yet been available yet. We certainly expect changes to the interior with new materials and design. Apart from cosmetic changes the GLS would be build on a same platform as the current GL.
Talking about powerplant, the Mercedes-Benz GLS is expected to be powered with the same engine options as provided for the current GL-series. The engine specs are V6 diesel power plant churning out 258PS of power with 619Nm of peak torque at 1,600-2,400rpm. The Mercedes-Benz GLS is expected to be launched in the international market by December, 2015.We expect the GLS to be available in India by mid 2016. The GLS will be up against the Audi Q7, Volvo XC90 and Range Rover Sport.
