The luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz has inaugurated a new research and development facility at Hinjewadi in Pune. Mercedes-Benz R&D India which is headquartered in Bangalore was founded in 1996. The MBRDI in India is now one of the largest R&D centres of Daimler outside Germany
Mercedes-Benz inaugurates new R&D facility in Pune

Mercedes-Benz is busy expanding its wings across the country. The luxury carmaker recently expanded its manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune. The German automaker has now taken a step ahead with the inauguration of its new Research and Development facility in Pune.

Located at the Embassy Tech Zone in Sez in Hinjewadi , the R&D facility  sprawls a good 46,000 sq ft with a capacity of over 400 people. 

Commenting on the inauguration, Thomas Merker, Vice-President, Body and Safety, Mercedes-Benz Cars Development and Chairman MBRDI, said, "MBRDI plays an important role within our global research and development organization. The new facility in Pune marks another milestone and allows us to expand while still being close to both our Mercedes-Benz plant and our relevant automotive suppliers. For us, India is a strategic location as emerging market, for the competent talent pool and global supplier network."

Mercedes-Benz R&D India which is headquartered in Bangalore was founded in 1996. It focuses on topics ranging from computer-aided design and simulations (CAD, CAE) for powertrain, chassis and exteriors to embedded systems, telematics and developing various IT applications and tools. The MBRDI in India is now one of the largest R&D centres of Daimler outside Germany.
