Mercedes-Benz looking to economize India operations

With a strong line-up of cars dominating every luxury and high-end SUV segment in the country, Mercedes-Benz continues its consistent growth in India, selling as many as 561 units in May 2011. Driving this strong growth once again are the company’s best sellers, the C-Class that registered a 45% growth by clocking 314 units, and the flagship E-Class which grew by 14% at 130 units.
The SUV segment comprising the M-Class and GL-Class also registered a growth of almost 200%, selling an impressive 344 units, since the start of 2011.
Commenting on the company’s growth in India, Mr. Debashis Mitra, Director- Marketing & Sales, Mercedes-Benz India commented, “Mercedes-Benz performed extremely well in both in the sedan segment as well as in the SUV segment. We will continue with our robust performance for the rest of 2011 and create new benchmarks.”
