Mercedes Benz has been doing reasonably good business with its hatchback offerings in India, the A-class and the B-Class. And though the mid-life facelift for the B-Class is only due next year and the that for the A-Class after that, Mercedes still wants to keep the excitement around the cars alive. And to to that, it will launch special editions for both cars this month.
As was the case with the special editions of the C-Class, the A-Class and the B-Class too will some exterior enhancements. These would include bumper extensions, side skirts and different wheels. Different coloured mirrors as seen on the A-Class at launch might be on cards as well. We expect some adornments to added tot he cars interior as well.
The A-Class and B-Class will remain the same mechanically though. Both the hatchbacks are offered with one petrol and one Diesel engine which are mated to a dual clutch gearbox. The petrol engine is a 1.6-litre turbo petrol with 122PS on tap and the diesel is a larger 2.1-litre four cylinder unit that develops 109PS of max power. Expect the special editions of the cars to cost more than the current versions on sale.
