  • Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV will be based on the new EVA platform which is a dedicated EV architecture limited to larger Mercs.
  • Likely to borrow styling elements from the Mercedes-Benz GLE.
  • Mercedes aims a WLTP-claimed range of over 700km with the new EVA platform.
  • The EQS, based on the same platform, can be driven for more than 250km with a 15-min fast charge.

Mercedes-Benz has revealed that its strategy for the upcoming years is mainly focused on electric mobility. The manufacturer has planned a host of electric vehicles and recently, it even teased three of these. One of the EVs still under wraps is the EQE SUV.

The EQE SUV will be the electric equivalent of the new-gen GLE and is likely to debut by the end of 2022. Mind you, technical specifications are still under wraps. But what we know is that it’ll be based on Mercedes’ new EVA platform purely dedicated to larger, luxurious electric Mercs. The EQE sedan, EQS sedan, and EQS SUV will also be underpinned by this particular platform

The EVA platform will support powertrains with up to 680PS of power and battery packs capable of a WLTP-claimed (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedures) range of over 700km. The EQE SUV will also support fast charging. For reference, the EQS sedan is capable of going over 250km with 15 minutes of fast charging.

The design and interior of the EQE SUV are yet to be revealed. We expect it to borrow bits from the new-gen GLE. Inside, it could come with Mercedes’ new MBUX touchscreen infotainment system that spans the entire central console as seen on the new S-Class

The EQE SUV will sit between the EQC and EQS SUVs in the manufacturer’s lineup. The manufacturer hasn’t disclosed any details about its India launch but we expect it to come to the country by around 2023 or even 2024. Stay tuned for more updates on this front.
