The special edition of the ‘S-Class of SUVs’ gets both cosmetic and feature updates

Mercedes-Benz has a habit of adding some flair to its existing models with special editions. And this time around, it's the flagship SUV GLS which gets one. And why not, India has emerged as one of the top 6 markets for the GLS, globally. Named the 'Grand Edition', both the GLS 350 d (diesel) and the GLS 400 (petrol), are priced at Rs 86.90 lakh (ex-showroom India). The Grand Edition gets cosmetic and feature updates, both inside and out, to make it stand out from other GLS SUVs in the market. The special edition commands a premium of Rs 4 lakh over the standard SUV. Also, this edition is not available on the monstrous 5.5-litre V8 AMG 63.

Outside, the GLS Grand Edition comes with black rings on the Intelligent LED headlights, 'Grand Edition’ exterior badges, chrome fins on the bonnet and black 20-inch, 10-spoke light alloy wheels. Inside, the car gets RSES (Rear Seat Entertainment System) which includes two 7-inch high definition screens. Apart from that, all the standard affair like Nappa leather, an 8-inch screen with an optional air ionization system, Android Auto and Apple Carplay, and a panoramic sliding sunroof is still there.

We are extremely confident that the ‘GLS Grand Edition’ will continue to remain at the top of customer preference creating new benchmark.”

There are no changes under the hood. And the GLS 350 d continues to be powered by a 3-litre, V6 diesel engine producing 258 PS of power and 620Nm of peak torque. The GLS 400, on the other hand, continues to be powered by a 3.0-litre V6 petrol, which produces 333PS of power and 480Nm of torque. Both come mated to the 9G-TRONIC 9-Speed automatic transmission.
