Mercedes-Maybach S600 launch on September 25

Following the launch of the C63 S AMG last week, Mercedes-Benz is getting ready to bring in another model later this month.  Further to their 15 in ’15 strategy for the year, Mercedes-Benz will being in their 12th model for the year, the Maybach S600 on September 25. 

The Stuttgart-based car maker had been suffering some losses with the Maybach brand and had to shut it down in 2011. This time round however, they are going to re-position the brand as Mercedes-Maybach. Unveiled the Los Angeles Motor Show in November last year, the Maybach S600 will now make its way to India.

Although the Maybach S600 is based on the S-Class, its wheelbase is 200mm longer. But the car holds its bragging rights in having what Mercedes-Benz claims as the quietest cabin in any production sedan in the world. To help achieve this feat, Mercedes has done comprehensive aeroacoustic wind tunnel tests.

Under the hood the car will be sport a 6.0-litre V12 bi-turbo unit that makes power of 523 horses and makes peak torque of 830Nm. All the power allows the Maybach S600 to touch the 100kmph marker from standstill in less than 5 seconds. The engine comes mated to the Mercedes 7G Tronic Plus automatic gearbox. The Maybach S600 is expected to be priced around Rs 2 crore.
