It will get various drive modes such as Rock, Sand, Mud, and Snow
  • The Gloster will be MG’s fourth offering in India when it launches by Diwali.

  • The Gloster gets Level 1 autonomous technology like adaptive cruise control and autonomous braking and will feature parallel parking assistance as well.

  • The Gloster will come with a separate rear differential lock button

  • Expected to be priced around the Rs 40 lakh mark, it will compete with the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.

MG’s Gloster is set to be more than another MG SUV loaded with features and autonomous technology. The latest offering from the British carmaker, set to launch by Diwali, will also feature premium off-roading features as seen in the latest “Test” video for the Gloster where the SUV is seen traversing through all sorts of terrain-based challenges in an attempt to prove its off-roading capabilities.

First off, the SUV gets different drive modes as part of its terrain management system. Mud, Rock, Sand, and Snow are the first to be revealed. Another interesting highlight from this video that caught our attention is the Gloster’s ability to separately lock its rear differential with just a button. It also comes with a multi-link rear suspension and a double-wishbone suspension up front. Water wading depth is rated at around 550mm.

A large floating touchscreen infotainment system makes the job easier for the person behind the wheel, by displaying all sorts of information required to assist the driver during any off-roading escapades. That said, despite its huge size, and rugged features, the Gloster also gets a bit of class, with its long list of features, autonomous technology (such as parallel park assist), and a premium interior.

Another important requirement for a good off-roading SUV is a powerful heart. Well, this large SUV could just get a 215PS twin-turbo diesel engine. Drive to all four wheels will be provided via an 8-speed AT.

It is expected to be priced around the Rs 40 lakh mark, putting it above the Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner, but we will only know for sure by Diwali. For now, unofficial bookings for the SUV are open.
