The MG Hector Plus will be offered in three variants -- Super, Smart and Sharp. The base-spec style variant of the standard Hector won’t be offered here. Moreover, the petrol-hybrid variant of the Hector Plus is limited to the top-spec Sharp variant only and that’s the only choice if you want a petrol-manual option. Petrol automatic will not be offered with the Hector Plus’ entry-level Super variant. The diesel engine is offered in all three variants.
The MG Hector Plus has also grown in length, courtesy to the restyled bumpers. It measures 4720mm, 65mm longer than the standard model. Other aspects including the wheelbase remain unchanged.
The main highlight of the Hector is inside. Initially it’ll be offered in a 6-seater configuration with captain seats while the 7-seater version with bench seats will follow later. Further, it will come with tan coloured upholstery for more differentiation. Both models are likely to share the same feature list. Read about it in our Hector Plus unveil report.
The MG Hector will retain the 143PS 1.5-litre petrol engine and 170PS 2.0-litre diesel engine from the standard model. Both engines come paired with a 6-speed manual transmission while the petrol variant can be had with a DCT as well. Meanwhile, the petrol manual variant can also be optioned with a mild hybrid system that features start stop and torque boost functions.
The MG Hector Plus with an additional row of seats might appeal to those large families or a group of friends who love travelling together. The Hector Plus will rival the Mahindra XUV500, Toyota Innova Crysta and the upcoming Tata Gravitas. Expect it to be priced Rs 1 lakh more than the equialivent variant of the standard model.
