With the coronavirus pandemic gripping the world, several manufacturers from the auto industry have come forward to help in the fight against the virus. Now, MG Motor has also joined the fray by announcing that it will provide 100 MG Hector SUVs to doctors, medical staff, police, and local government officials for community service across the country, till the end of May 2020.
These Hectors will be provided free of cost along with fuel and dedicated drivers to address the transportation needs of frontline workers during this crisis. The carmaker will follow the ‘MG Disinfect and Deliver’ protocol for deployment before utilising these SUVs.
Besides, MG Motor has already been offering support to communities. It has donated ventilators and distributed health and hygiene kits, PPE kits, surgical masks, gloves, sanitizers, sanitizer sprayers, food, and ration kits. In the UK, the carmaker has provided 100 MG ZS EVs to the National Health Service (NHS) to assist in the fight against coronavirus.
Several manufacturers in India have announced measures to tackle the pandemic. Mahindra is working on prototype ventilators, Hyundai has ordered 25,000 COVID-19 testing kits, and Maruti Suzuki is working with suppliers to accelerate the manufacture of safety equipment such as ventilators, face masks, and protective clothing.
