MG Motors Introduces eShield 5-year Warranty Plan For ZS EV

• Warranty plan covers a span of 5 years and unlimited kilometres on the car as well as 5 years of roadside assistance.
• Battery pack gets a coverage of 8 yrs/150,000km.
• The MG ZS EV will be offered in two variants and is powered by a 143PS/353Nm electric motor.
• Electric motor is juiced by a 44.5kWh battery pack giving off a range of 340km.
• Once launched, it will rival the Hyundai Kona Electric.

With the launch of the MG ZS EV only a month away in January 2020, the carmaker has introduced the eShield warranty plans. This warranty plan covers a span of  5 years with unlimited kilometres on the car, and 8 years/ 150,000 km on the battery. This plan also includes roadside assistance for 5 years. And the best part is that this plan can be availed at no additional cost. Bookings for the ZS EV SUV have already commenced against a token amount of Rs 50,000.  

The ZS EV will be offered in two variants, named Excite and Exclusive. It comes loaded with a host of features like an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, i-SMART EV 2.0 connected tech, climate control and a PM 2.5 AC filter. Other bits include heated OVRMs, a panoramic sunroof and keyless entry with push button stop-start. It also gets safety equipment such as six airbags, ABS+EBD, rear parking sensors, rear view camera and ESC.

The main talking point of the ZS EV is what’s under the hood. It is powered by an electric motor delivering 143PS/353Nm to the front wheels, juiced up by a 44.5kWh battery pack. MG Motors claim the EV can go 340km on a single charge. It also has fast charge support with 0-80 per cent charge in 50 minutes.  A bigger 73kWh battery pack for the EV is in the works with an expected range of 500km.

Prices for both variants of the ZS EV will be revealed once the electric SUV launches in January 2020. Expect a price range between 23 lakh and 25 lakh. It will initially be launched in Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru. Once launched, it will take on the Hyundai Kona Electric in the Indian market.
