MG Motor India could launch the ZS SUV with an internal combustion engine (ICE) engine in the near future. As per a leaked RTO document, the ZS ICE utilises a Euro6-compliant turbo-petrol engine. Let’s see what the latest revelation is, shall we?
The engine in question is a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit that develops 111PS of power and 160Nm of torque. Overseas, this engine can only be had with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. It must also be mentioned that this engine is a 3-cylinder unit. While the figures don’t disappoint for a 1.0-litre unit, it’s a tad less powerful when pitched against the Kia Seltos’ 1.4-litre T-GDI. Here’s a detailed comparison:

Earlier, another document revealed various information about the ZS utilising a 1.0-litre hybrid and 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engines. The 1.0-litre hybrid is essentially the above-mentioned engine paired with an electric motor. On the other hand, the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine develops 106PS and 141Nm.
Currently, the India-spec ZS is offered with an electric powertrain that develops 143PS and 353Nm. It draws power from a 44.5kWh battery pack and MG claims the ZS EV will do 340km in a single charge.
