Set for an unveil in India in early 2016, the next-gen Toyota Innova multi-purpose utility vehicle (MPV) has been spotted testing once gain near Toyota’s manufacturing facility in Karnataka. More images of the test mule have emerged this time around hinting that the upcoming MPV is in its advanced stages of testing.
Spy shots of the 2016 Toyota Innova reveal that the new model will receive significant changes to the exterior styling. The front styling of the next-gen Innova is inspired by the Toyota Fortuner SUV. The designers have dished out a taller and flatter front design for the upcoming MPV giving it a more robust appearance with a higher front grille, larger headlamps, and a new bumper.
The 2016 Toyota Innova sports a sharper D-pillar design and stylish new rear quarter glass which gives it a completely different side profile. The rear end will get a new multi-layered bootlid, new taillights and a revised rear bumper.
The interior design of the new 2016 Toyota Innova is expected to be more premium than before. The automaker is still working on the features, but we expect it to feature a redesigned dashboard, a touch-screen centre console and better materials to make the cabin more upmarket and justify its price tag.
The next-gen Toyota Innova will be based on the ladder-and-frame chassis, but the automaker has paid extra attention to make the ride more comfortable for its passengers. Toyota hasn’t revealed any official details on the powertrain yet, but we expect more efficient engines and also an automatic transmission option to underpin the new 2016 Toyota Innova.
The new Toyota Innova is expected to be unveiled in the second half of 2015. Watch this space out.
