Pirelli tyres have collaborated with MV Agusta several times over the past decades for their high performance bikes. They have now decided to make their union official and Pirelli has become the exclusive tyre supplier for the Italian motorcycle manufacturer. To celebrate this agreement, a limited version of the Brutale 800 RR has been released, which could be further upgraded with tyres that have coloured bands exclusively designed for the occasion.
On the components end, the rims of the wheels are designed to reduce weight and increase handling thanks to mounting components derived from the F4, which is known for its sporty design. Further, the rear wheel has a wider 6-inch rim to hold the new tyre size, which is exclusive to this version of the Brutale. You could further opt for wheels with coloured sidewalls which aren’t standard.
The limited-edition Brutale 800 RR was created by MV Agusta with Pirelli’s design team, which is essentially a lab in Bicocca, Milan, that specialises in conceiving design projects. The limited-edition Brutale 800 RR will be on display at the 2017 EICMA show on the 3rd of November.
Henceforth, all MV Agusta motorcycles will have tyres branded with the long ‘P’ from Pirelli. This includes all the models currently in production and the ones MV Agusta will sell in the future. Both Italian brands have strong roots in both the sports and automotive industry.
The limited-edition Brutale 800RR customised by the MV Agusta research centre in Castiglioni will have a technical base made up of the Brutale 800 RR, a popular sports naked bike in its segment. It sports an inline, three-cylinder 798cc engine that churns out 142PS of power and 86Nm of torque. This new version, except for the new wheels, is mechanically similar to the original and focuses on the cosmetic aspect of the model.
Take note of the colour-coded saddle. The headlight unit is painted black along with the rear subframe. The output grilles for the airbox are also painted. One of the proposed models has a matt black base along with some glossy reds portions, and a ‘Pirelli’ logo in red graces the sides of the fuel tank. The ‘Diablo’ logo shines on the fuel tank near the cap. The second proposed model has a similar design in a grey and blue colour scheme.
The optional coloured tyres have a red or blue band on them, and you can get the corresponding one on your bike.
The Brutale 800 RR is the first MV Agusta model customised by Pirelli to get into production and sold under the limited edition tag, unlike the Diablo Brutale which came out in 2016 and was a single, non-commercialised unit. This was made possible by a special agreement between Pirelli and MV Agusta.
