Italian motorcycle manufacturer MV Agusta has released a new teaser video which reveals its new division, RVS, and a glimpse of an upcoming, presumably, limited edition bike. ‘RVS’ stands for ‘Reparto Veicoli Speciali’ which translates to ‘Special Vehicles Department.’ Also read: 2017 MV Agusta Brutale 800: First Ride Review
The birth of the division is likely a bid to cash in on the brand’s rich history and to increase the exclusivity and the value of its products, thus mitigating the burden of the brand’s debts. Judging by the silhouette of the bike shown in the teaser, the design is reminiscent of the Brutale 800 Dragster. But with spoke wheels wrapped in dual purpose tyres and a round headlamp, it hints at a scrambler-based iteration of the bike. It’s only a matter of time before we get more details about this seemingly retro-looking bike.
The MV Agusta Brutale 800 Dragster is powered by a 798cc inline 3-cylinder engine which belts out 125PS of power at 11600rpm and 81Nm of torque at 8600rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission with electronically assisted shift. The bike uses an adjustable Marzocchi inverted forks at the front and an adjustable Sachs monoshock at the rear. Braking duties are taken care of by ABS-enabled Brembo 320mm dual discs at the front and a single 220mm Brembo disc at the rear with rear wheel lift-up mitigation. The Brutale 800 Dragster is sold in the US market for 15,198 dollars (Rs 9.79 lakh).
