The Volkswagen Beetle, possibly one of the most iconic and easily recognised cars in India, will make its way to India in a new avatar. Set to be launched towards the end of the year, the new Volkswagen Beetle will be sold in limited numbers. With the new Beetle Volkswagen isn’t expected to get come mileage on the sales charts, but will bring it to our shores to showcase the brands heritage.
On the design front, the new 2015 Beetle looks slightly muscular and more dynamic than its predecessor but at the same time it doesn’t quite lose out on its iconic DNA. In fact it is a perfect showcase of how a retro design can be merged with new technology to continue an iconic brand. The incorporation of features like Daytime Running Lamps and a large set of wheels give its a touch of the modernity. In profile the large windscreen adds to the sleek design of the new Beetle.
Details of what rims the 2015 Beetle coming to India with are still rather sketchy, but in the international market it is on sale in three variants – Standard, Design and Sport. Major features such as keyless entry, satellite navigation, and panoramic sun roof are expected to be part of the top-end trim.
Under the hood, the Beetle is sold with four engine options. The three petrol engines include a 1.2 TSI that makes 105PS, a 1.4-litre TSI producing 160PS and a 2.0-litre TSI churning 200PS. It also gets a 1.6-litre turbo diesel that makes 105PS of peak power. Not all of these engines will make their way to India but it is safe to expect the 2015 Beetle to come with one petrol and the diesel engine.
