According to reports, Bajaj Auto is set to introduce a new bike under the ‘V’ range of motorcycles by March 2018. The new bike in the ‘V’ range is expected to be positioned as an entry-level motorcycle to be sold alongside the company’s other offerings like the Bajaj CT 100 and the Bajaj Platina ComforTec. Apart from this, the Pune-based manufacturer is also expected to launch a new variant on its cruiser, the Avenger. The Bajaj Avenger will come out with a 400cc version, utilizing the same mill which is seen on the Bajaj Dominar. With this the Bajaj Avenger 400 will go toe-to-toe against the Royal Enfield Thunderbird.
Bajaj has sold over 55,021 units of the Avenger and 71,365 units of the Bajaj V in the first half of fiscal year 2017-18. The launch of the new models early next year should help the company achieve a market share of 23 per cent when compared to the current 17 per cent it holds.
The Bajaj V is currently available with two engine options. Whereas the Bajaj V12 is powered by a 124.5cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 10.7PS of power and 10.9Nm of torque, its elder sibling, the Bajaj V15, is powered by a 149.5cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that churns out 12PS of power and 12.7Nm of torque. The V12 and the V15 are available for Rs 55,060 and Rs 61,530 (ex-showroom Delhi), respectively.
Currently, Bajaj sells three different variants of the Avenger. Priced at Rs 80,960 (ex-showroom Delhi), the 150cc Street version produces 14.54PS of power and 12.5Nm of torque. The Street and Cruise variants are powered by a larger 220cc motor that churns out 19.03PS of power and 17.5Nm of torque. These versions are currently priced at Rs 89,190 (ex-showroom Delhi).
