Leaked patent images suggest that CFMoto is working on a 700cc parallel-twin naked motorcycle. This bike would mark the brand’s entry into the 700cc segment, as currently, its largest offering is a 650cc motorcycle. Going by the spy shots, it appears to be a neo-retro naked, thanks to the circular headlamp and classically styled round rearview mirrors.
A closer look reveals that there are ‘X’ markings all over the motorcycle. This suggests that it could be a part of a new product family and we could see multiple bikes under this nomenclature. We’d be pretty stoked if the next bike is a cafe racer!

The “700” marking on the engine casing hints at its cubic capacity. The parallel-twin liquid-cooled motor appears to be similar to the existing 650cc mill. CFMoto might’ve just rebored the smaller engine to 700cc. It’s pretty much a given that the new motor will make more power and torque than the 650cc unit and is also likely to be BS6-ready. For reference, the 650NK’s 649.3cc parallel-twin engine makes 61PS at 9000rpm and 56Nm at 7000rpm. If our guess is right, CFMoto would bring in the bike pretty soon, likely at this year’s EICMA show in November, followed by its launch in 2020.

As expected from a neo-retro offering, it features properly upmarket underpinnings. Up front, it packs an inverted fork, while the rear gets a monoshock. Interestingly, the motorcycle’s brakes include a single disc up front as opposed to a twin-disc setup in the 650cc range. However, it does get more potent radial caliper instead of the axial ones in the 650.
The instrument cluster is a single-pod circular all-digital unit. The wide single-piece handlebar and single-piece seat, coupled with the slightly rear-set footpegs hint at a middle ground between sporty and comfortable ergonomics. All said and done, we believe CFMoto could introduce a bike with an even larger displacement too - a 999cc KTM-derived V-twin to be precise. That’s because the firm has received the rights to make a motorcycle with the KTM-derived engine at its production plant in Hangzhou, China from 2020 onwards. Exciting times indeed!
