New Chevrolet Cruze to debut on June 24

Chevrolet has released a teaser image of the next generation Cruze in the American car market prior to its official debut. The 2016 Chevrolet Cruze will be unveiled on June 24 and will land on our shores by next year. According to the press release issued by General Motors which is the parent company for Chevrolet the new Cruze will be lighter, more spacious and boast of better features than its predecessor. From the teaser pic one can make out that the new Chevrolet Cruze adopts a more sporty design language with a sharper front fascia and large hexagonal air intake. The 2016 Chevrolet Cruze employs swept-back headlamp with LED DRL lamps integrated into them and it does gel well with the sleek grille. The Chevrolet Cruze has always been a handsome and imposing looking car and the new styling updates hikes its visual appeal even further.  

Chevrolet had revealed the interiors of the next generation Cruze earlier this year when they announced that it will be offered with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The interior design and layout of the new Chevrolet Cruze is similar to the one sold in the Chinese market with a familiar looking dual cockpit design with updated features that will be appreciated by existing Cruze owners. While the US-spec car will be loaded to the brim with features, the Indian version of the Chevrolet Cruze will miss out on few features to keep the price competitive. The new Chevrolet Cruze will use an all new platform labelled as D2XX FWD and it will replace the older Delta II platform. It isn’t clear yet what engine options Chevrolet will offer what engine options on the new Cruze yet. It is assumed that it will offer the same drive train as found on the Chinese-spec car. The next generation Chevrolet Cruze will be equipped with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated motor and a turbo charged 1.4 litre mill producing 112PS and 148PS respectively. 

Despite the car making its debut on June 24, American car buyers could only get their hands on the newCruze by early 2016 only. On the Indian context, Chevrolet hasn’t announced any plans of bringing the new Cruze to India as it is focussing its attention on the Trailblazer SUV that will be launched this year and the Spin MPV expected last year. One can expect the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze to be showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi and a launch by mid-2016 or late 2016 in India.
