Honda will be upgrading its CBR150R with both with cosmetic and technical updates. Here's what to expect

According to a report on an Indonesian blog, Honda is working on an all-new CBR150R. It is expected that the new CBR150R will undergo cosmetic updates and according to a rendering on the website it will feature a restyled front with split headlamps. From the rendered image one can comprehend that Honda designers are following the same twin headlamp design philosophy on the new bike as seen on the CBR300R and CBR500R. Also the profile of the fairing has been redesigned to gel with the new headlamp design. The rendering also shows that the new CBR150R will feature a CBR300R inspired traditional looking circular muffler instead of the short and stubby one as seen on the current bike.

Gladly though, the updates aren’t just cosmetic. It is expected that the new Honda CBR150R will feature a tubular frame set-up instead of the twin-spar set-up as seen on the current bike. The tubular diamond type frame is similar to the one on the CBR250R. Apart from the revised chassis dimensions, suspension set-up and brakes of the new bike are expected to remain unchanged. It’s the same story on the mechanical front as well, as whether Honda will fiddle with the powerplant remains a question that would be answered once more details on the new CBR150R emerge. The standard 149.4cc liquid motor with a 4-valve head pumps out 17.8PS at 10,500rpm and torque figure stands at 12.6Nm at 8,5000rpm. Power is transmitted to the rear-wheel via a six-speed gearbox. With Yamaha working on a replacement for the R15, which is the arch nemesis for theCBR150R in our two-wheeler market, the timing for the new bike couldn’t have been better. We expect Honda to roll out the new CBR150R on our roads by end of 2014 or early 2015 soon after launching it in the Indonesian market.
