The Honda Civic has been a landmark in the auto industry worldwide as an economical car that’s high on value, and the new 2013 avatar is no different. It features some cutting edge gadgetry and updated contemporary design.
The new Civic will come equipped with a rear-view camera, Bluetooth audio with Hands-Free, steering mounted audio controls, and a USB/iPod connection.
Concerning safety, Honda has inculcated its futuristic Advanced Compatibility Engineering II (ACE II) body build, which distributes impact force away from the front seat occupants in case of a head on collision. It will also feature SmartVent side and side curtain air bags besides Forward Warning Collision (FWC) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW) systems available for the first time in the compact class on the 2013 Civic hybrid.
Both the 2013 Honda Civic Coupé and Sedan versions will have a wide array of engine options, in the high fuel efficiency (HF) and performance (SI) categories. The HF category will come equipped with 1.8-litre 4-cylinder I-VTEC engines, while the SI category will sport a 2.4-litre engine and 6-speed gear box. The 1.8-litre hybrid and natural gas engines have also been made available in the 2013 Civic.
The new Civic also boasts upgraded stylised interior and re- tuned steering and suspension systems, which along with the reconstructed exterior ensure better stability, handling, and ride quality. The base LX sedan variant has been priced in the US at $18,165 (Rs 10,02,747).
Although Honda has not been categoric about bringing its new Civic sedan/coupe to India anytime soon, it is most likely that it will plonk in the 1.6-litre petrol mill into the model that finally does make it to Indian shores, if at all.Watch this space for more updates on the new Civic.
