Hyundai Motor India has officially revealed the name of its forthcoming new compact SUV – as the Hyundai Creta. The global unveiling of the new Hyundai SUV will take place in the coming months, and the official launch of the Hyundai Creta in India is expected around the festive season later this year. Soon after this, the new Hyundai Creta compact SUV will be exported to International markets.
According to Hyundai Motor India, the name Hyundai Creta has a ring similar to the term ‘creative’. The company will be marketing the compact SUV as Hyundai Creta in all the global markets.
In India, the Ford EcoSport challenger from Hyundai is expected to be powered by a 1.6-litre petrol engine capable of producing 123PS of power and 155Nm of torque, and mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The diesel option of the Hyundai Creta could come equipped with a 1.6-litre mill producing 128PS and 260Nm, with a 6-speed gearbox. Like most Hyundai car models, the Hyundai Creta might also be offered with an automatic gearbox option.
The Hyundai Creta is said to be launched around September-October 2015 to catch on to the festive buying spree, with an expected price of under Rs 10 lakh. This will pitted directly against popular models including the Ford Ecosport, Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and the soon to be launched Maruti Suzuki XA Alpha and the Honda’s new compact SUV for India.
