New Skoda Superb 2016 teased before Prague debut

The next generation Skoda Superb is an important car for the Czech carmaker. The new car defines how upmarket Skoda can go and going by its predecessor, this time Skoda would like to step it up a notch. We’ve see several teasers and company released camouflaged pictures of the car till now but today, you get to see in the metal, in parts, before the wraps are off the full car in Prague tomorrow at its global unveiling.

Teasers of the car were revealed in a video posted on Skoda Romania’s Facebook page that shows the grille, headlamps, tail lamps and side profile. Going by these images, it does look quite grown up and mature compared to its predecessor. The new Superb is built on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform that also underpins the new Passat so expect the Superb to sport similar powertrains to its VW sibling.

Skoda has also released a few pictures of the car and elaborated on the rather well designed headlights of the car. Skoda says that the lights get three dimensional contours and surfaces creating a striking brand distinctiveness, modelled after the Bohemian tradition of glass art.

After the global unveiling in Prague, Skoda will display its flagship at the Geneva Motor Show next month. Expect an Indian launch sometime later this year with a choice of petrol and diesel engines and manual and automatic gearboxes. The Superb will continue to be the more value offering in the luxury sedan segment.
