Skoda has unveiled the New Superb internationally and the car is due to go on sale in Europe by June this year. However, the New Superb will only come to India a year later by middle of 2016. The New Superb which is built on the MQB modular platform, will be assembled in India at Skoda’s Aurangabad plant (where all the other Volkswagen brand MQB cars are assembled as well). It will be offered with both petrol and diesel engines and will also get manual and automatic gearbox options.
The New Superb, which according to Skoda is their best product yet, be it design, technology, driving dynamics or modularity, will most likely come in two trim options – the Ambition, and the top of the line and fully loaded Elegance trim. The car will come with leather upholstery, three zone climate control system, eight airbags, ABS, ESP and of course, two umbrella holders besides many other comfort and convenience features. It will not only continue to be the best value package in its class, but the best equipped as well.
The New Superb will be pricer than the current car, nonetheless. Expect an increase in the region of 5-6 per cent in terms of ex-showroom pricing, which will take the car’s list price closer to Rs 30 lakh. But given the virtues of the new car, the New Superb should still find a healthy number of takers.
