UPDATE: Everything you need to know about the new Maruti Swift
Suzuki has set hearts racing with the release of the first image of the all-new Swift Sport. Shown in its signature bright yellow paint, the new Sport promises to be more fun.
Suzuki has released many images of the new Swift Sport. It looks like the standard Swift hatchback, but has elements which make it look 'sporty'. Changes at the front include a larger gaping grille, new bumper design with new fog lamp surrounds, and a new contrast-coloured front splitter.

At the side, the changes are limited to the alloy wheel design and contrast coloured skirt. Unlike the previous-gen car, the new Swift Sport will not be offered in a three-door guise as the demand for such hatchbacks has gone down worldwide. As with the standard car, the handles for the rear doors are hidden near the C-pillar.
We have no idea how the Swift Sport looks from the rear, apart from the fact that it will get twin exhausts.
Inside, the Swift Sport is mostly the same as the standard car, except for the use of red accents/highlights all around.
Under the skin, the Swift Sport gets the same 'Heartect' platform as the standard hatchback and the new Dzire. This makes it very light; in fact, the Swift Sport will weigh less than 900kg because of this new platform!

The biggest change will be in the engine department. The high-revving naturally-aspirated M16A 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder petrol in the older car was much loved, but tougher emission norms have forced Suzuki to fit a turbocharged motor in the new Swift Sport.
The new motor could be the K14C 1.4-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder 'Boosterjet' unit that made its debut under the bonnet of the 2015 Vitara S Grade. It develops 150PS of maximum power and 245Nm of peak torque. The M16A 1.6 motor had an output of 136PS and 160Nm. More power and less weight? Looks like the new Swift Sport will be a stonker!
Maruti Suzuki is not expected to launch the new Swift Sport in India. But, it may decide to use the 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder 'Boosterjet' unit from the Baleno RS and create an India-special Swift RS variant. An official word from Maruti is only expected after the car debuts for international markets sometime between September 14-24, 2017.
