Just like the Grand i10 which got updated to the Grand i10 Nios, the Hyundai Xcent is all set to receive an update. And it’s been spied testing on our roads again. The next-gen Xcent is expected to get a new name and styling elements in tune with the Grand i10 Nios.
Similar to the Nios and the Grand i10, the next-gen Xcent sedan is also likely be sold alongside the existing sedan. From the spy images, the new sedan is most likely to carry the same front fascia as the Grand i10 Nios. The cascading grille flanked by LED DRLs and the redesigned headlamps are expected to be carried over with minimal changes for differentiation between the sedan and hatchback versions. The side profile is also expected to retain its form factor while the rear end will carry most of the changes. Another change visible from the spy shots are the dual-tone machine-finished alloy wheels.
A new pair of LED taillamps that are larger than the existing Xcent is visible from the spy shots. The new tail lamps can also be seen extending to the bootlid. Other noticeable changes include a different bumper design which also houses the number plate instead of the bootlid. We are yet to get a peek of the interiors but the cabin will more or less remain similar to the Grand i10 Nios. The new sedan will also share most of the features with the Grand i10 Nios. These include the 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and wireless charging.
The upcoming Xcent sedan will also share its powertrain options with the Grand i10 Nios. The diesel engine will be the same 1.2-litre CRDi engine that produces 75PS and 190Nm of twist. The BS6-compliant 1.2-litre petrol engine that puts out 83PS and 114Nm will also be offered. Similar to the Nios, the next-gen Xcent will also come with the choice of a 5-speed manual and AMT for both the diesel and petrol engines.
As mentioned, when launched, the new next-gen Xcent sedan will be sold as a more premium offering with the current Xcent likely to be further pushed up the lineup. The existing sedan might also be offered as a more affordable option for fleet requirements. Key rivals include the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze and the Ford Figo Aspire. Timeline for the launch is still not clear, but expect it to be priced around Rs 6.0 lakh to 9.0 lakh (ex-showroom).
