The accessories add that extra bit of ruggedness to the off-roader

The recently unveiled next-generation Force Gurkha has been grabbing eyeballs, courtesy of its boxy silhouette and an upright stance, resembling the G-Wagens of old. But the carmaker ain’t stopping there; it has made available a variety of accessories to accentuate the ruggedness of the off-roader.

These add-ons include a windscreen bar for protection against tree branches and debris, a roof carrier to store extra luggage, roof rails, a rear ladder for easier access to the roof carrier, and a tail lamp grille. Additionally, the carmaker is also offering alloy wheels and all-terrain tyres to improve the off-roading experience. Also, if you want to fit more people inside the Gurkha, there are two extra child seats for that.

The 2021 Force Gurkha is available in red, green, white, orange, and grey body shades.  In this author’s opinion, the orange and green stand out.

The new-gen SUV is a three-door four-seater. It features a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, telescopic and tilt steering, a four-speaker sound system, a 12V power socket, and two USB sockets for front- and second-row occupants. Safety kit includes dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX mounts, rear parking sensors, follow-me-home lamps, cornering lamps, and tyre pressure monitoring.

Powering the new Gurkha will be a 91PS/250Nm 2.6-litre four-cylinder diesel engine paired with a 5-speed manual and a four-wheel drivetrain. Its off-roading credentials come from the manual (front and rear) locking differentials, front and rear anti-roll bars, an air intake snorkel, and water wading capacity of 700mm. It can negotiate slopes of up to 35 degrees in 4x4 low first-gear crawl mode.

The 2021 Force Gurkha will go on sale on September 27, with deliveries commencing on October 15. Prices are expected to hover around Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom). It will take on the Mahindra Thar and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
