Toyota Motor Corporation has released a teaser image of the next-generation Camry which will replace the current generation model in the international market. The car is set to make its official debut on January 9 at the 2017 Detroit Motor Show. The teaser image gives a glimpse of the rear corner section of the car, exposing the tail lamp design, connecting faux air vents with the ‘XSE’ variant badge. The new generation model is expected to carry a sportier and dynamic design language that has been hinted by the teaser image.
The car has been spotted internationally, while testing for on-road parameters with heavy camouflage. Although the fine details remain hidden, the front fascia of the car boasts a more imposing look than the current outgoing model in the global market. Other design highlights and changes to the interiors will be known only after the car has been officially unveiled. As per reports, the car is expected to weigh 100kgs lighter than the current model.
As far as the powerplant is concerned, it is rumoured that the next-generation Camry will be powered by a 2.0-litre, turbocharged, 4-cylinder mill instead of the 3.5-litre V6 engine, currently offered in the international market. In India, the Camry is offered with a 2.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol motor with an option of a hybrid variant. Expect a similar hybrid option to be offered on the upcoming next-generation Camry as well.
The Toyota Camry is one of the best-selling family sedan from the Japanese carmaker that is sold in various international markets. Expect the next-generation Camry to reach international markets by end of 2017 or early 2018.
