A spy image supposedly of the Fiat Linea undergoing cold weather testing in Sweden has hit the web. The test mule has been heavily disguised under poly vinyl covering to hide its lines.
The Italian carmaker plans to give this forthcoming new sedan an up market look to increase the brand’s appeal. Going by the spy images, the next-generation Linea looks slightly longer and wider than the current model. Reports suggest that the forthcoming Linea sedan will be based on the Small-Wide Architecture that also underpins the Jeep Renegade and Fiat 500X.
The new Linea will come equipped with the same 1.4-litre T-jet petrol engine and a 1.3-litre Multijet diesel. The petrol unit is capable of churning out 112PS of power and 207Nm of torque, while the oil burner delivers 92PS of power and 209Nm of torque.
The Italian carmaker had launched the Fiat Linea facelift in India just last year. The Linea still failed to charm the Indian buyers with its Italian design and has managed to sell a little over 500 units in the past six months in the market.
This all-new Fiat Linea will join the Italian carmaker’s new line-up of cars which includes a hatch and a station wagon which will be sold in the international market. This forthcoming new sedan would thus go into production by next year. We expect it to come to the Indian shores thereafter.
