Nissan India has issued a recall for over 12,000 units for its various models in our four-wheeler market. Nissan has recalled the mid-sized sedan Sunny and the Micra hatchback. The affected cars were manufactured between June 2013 and March 2015 in India. The recall in India is part of the global recall campaign announced by the Japanese carmaker for around 2.7 lakh units. The Nissan cars have been recalled owing to a faulty engine start switch, airbag and defective brake master cylinder.
Nissan India spokesperson said, “Nissan is conducting a voluntary recall campaign for about 2,70,000 vehicles on the certain models, including 12,000 vehicles in India,” according to a company spokesperson. Authorized Nissan retailers will rectify the defective engine switch at no extra cost.”
According to the Japanese carmaker the engine push button start has few defects and it would be replaced free of cost at authorized Nissan service centres. The driver side airbag has been manufactured by Takata which has issued a global recall that has affected Honda, Toyota etc. Nissan also states that it has identified a potential defect in the master brake cylinder in a specific range of Micra and Sunny models. Nissan will start notifying the affected customers from July onwards and the defective parts will be replaced free of cost.
