Despite the COVID-19 pandemic wreaking havoc, Citroen India maintains its made-for-India sub-4 metre SUV is on track for a 2021 launch. The carmaker could also take the wraps off the Nissan Magnite rival in May this year, provided the pandemic’s second wave still allows it to. The upcoming model will be based on the carmaker’s C cubed program (acronym for Cool, Comfort, and Clever).

While it’ll be a petrol-only offering, the exact powertrain has not been confirmed yet. However, we reckon it could be a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine (mated to both manual and automatic transmission options) powering the SUV, considering the displacement is eligible for tax benefits in the segment. There will be an all-new platform -- to debut outside Europe for the first time -- underpinning the model.
Likely features include a large touchscreen infotainment system, connected car tech, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, a wireless phone charger, and keyless entry with push-button start. Passenger safety should be taken care of by multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, parking sensors, and electronic stability control.
The upcoming SUV will go on sale by the end of 2021 and is expected to retail from Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom). It will rival the Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, and Hyundai Venue.
