Last week, at the world renowned Nurgburgring racing circuit in Germany, Nissan opened its Sportscars Shop, a place when auto enthusiasts can get up close and personal with the Japanese auto giant's legendary sportscars.

No one can deny Nissan's obsession with Nurburgring - the legendary racetrack which is the ultimate proving ground for automakers to test their latest road cars. Recently, the Japanese auto giant has been out on it time and again, running hot lap after hot lap with their illustrious GT-R supercar. And its latest 486 horsepower SpecV model clocked a record time of 7:26.7 minutes on the 20.8km long circuit. Now, to further expand on its fascination with the track, the company opened the Nissan Sportscars Shop, on the Nurburgring's new ring boulevard.

The new shop is designed to share Nissan's love of racing with fans from all over the world and to let visitors experience its expertise as a longstanding manufacturer of fascinating sports cars. With 500 square meters of floor space, the Sportscar Shop will be the only place in Europe that will house the hyper-exclusive GT-R SpecV model. This high-performance version of Nissan's supercar offers numerous modifications compared to the production model, such as additional carbon fibre parts, carbon ceramic brakes, a titanium exhaust system and a button-operated, short-time torque booster. Apart from the Spec V, the shop will also play host to the limited production 370Z NURBURGRING EDITION, of which only 80 units will ever be made.

Of course, buying a new Nissan sportscar isn't everyone's cup of tea. In that case, visitors to the Sportscars Shop can also purchase Nissan merchandise from its motor sports department NISMO, including rare items imported from Japan as well as scale models of cars. Later in the year, the Nissan Sportscars Shop is also slated to take on an important role in many of the company's marketing and sales activities. One such event will include an entire week of action at the end of October 2009 that will feature a drift event at the Nurburgring, track days with the GT-R and a journey through the picturesque Eifel countryside surrounding the racetrack.
