With governments across India starting to ease lockdown restrictions, carmakers have slowly begun resuming operations as per local government guidelines. And now, Nissan India has announced that it has started resuming a couple of its key operations in the country. Nissan joins the likes of its sister brand, Renault, as well as Maruti Suzuki, Toyota, Honda, Hyundai and BMW to resume operations in India.
It has resumed the dispatch of BS6 vehicles from its alliance manufacturing facility in Chennai as well as reopened its dealerships in green and orange zones across the country. The carmaker has also resumed its marketing and sales operations in its offices in Gurgaon as per local government guidelines.
As is the case with other carmakers, Nissan has initiated a variety of health and safety protocols for all staff at dealerships and service centres. Some initiatives include being trained with the new standard operating procedures to ensure health and hygiene.
This announcement comes at a perfect time for Nissan as it prepares to launch the BS6-compliant Kicks SUV. The main highlight of the 2020 Kicks is its new 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine that will be paired to a CVT transmission. Expect it to launch at a premium over its BS4 predecessor which was priced at Rs 9.55 lakh (ex-showroom). It will take on the Kia Seltos, MG Hector, and the 2020 Hyundai Creta post launch.
