With a stable government at the Centre, the general market sentiment seems to be rather upbeat. Hopeful of this positive trend, the Indian car manufacturers are readying to roll out their new cars and give a facelift to existing models. So much so, that our 'Upcoming Launches' section is suddenly bursting at the seams with latest car news.
Another addition to the already long list of cars to be launched this year is the new improvised Nissan Sunny. The sedan has been given a makeover which was also showcased in the 2014 Auto Expo earlier this year. (Also read: Nissan unveil face lifted Sunny)
The existing model of entry-level saloon hasn’t met the sales expectations of Nissan in India, despite it being a well-rounded product. Nissan has taken customer feedback and made the 2014 Nissan Sunny sportier, in terms of exterior and interior design, and enhanced it with exciting features to make it a more compelling offering. Company insiders have revealed that the Nissan Sunny facelift is ready post homologation, and other formalities, and is due for launch in June 2014.
As part of the visual update, the 2014 Nissan Sunny facelift gets a more prominent front grille, flanked by a pair of Nissan’s signature boomerang-shaped headlamps. A new front bumper with chrome detailing on the fog lamp housing adds to the bold styling of the sedan. Other design enhancements include OVRM integrated turn indicators and Y-spoke styled alloy wheel.
Similar level of sporty improvisations can be seen on the interiors of the car as well. The dashboard gets brush metal highlights and the centre console has been given the piano black finish. The steering wheels have audio controls and will come wrapped in leather to give the interiors a premium look. Depending on the variant, the 2014 Nissan Sunny facelift will also get 2-DIN audio system with touchscreen. Other feature would include rear parking camera, Bluetooth connectivity and AUX and USB ports.
The changes are expected to be mainly cosmetic and powertrains remain untouched. The Nissan Sunny facelift will be available with the same 99PS 1.5-litre petrol, and 86PS 1.5-litre diesel engine options. The company did not reveal the price of the new facelift model during the Auto Expo unveiling, but we expect it to be marginally higher than the current model which retails between Rs 6.28 to Rs 9.55 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).
