Nissan Terrano Sport ‘Earns Some Stripes’

Nissan has launched the AMT variant of the Terrano SUV at a starting price of Rs 13.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The AMT variant is available only in the top-of-the-line XVD model of the Terrano. Nissan has started accepting bookings with a minimum cash deposit of Rs 25,000 for the new variant, while deliveries are expected to start later this month.
The 6-speed AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) is the same unit that Renault uses in the Duster Easy-R AMT variant. In the Terrano, the transmission comes mated to the 1.5-litre diesel motor that develops 110PS of power and 248Nm of peak torque. As per ARAI tests, Nissan claims that the Terrano AMT returns a mileage of 19.61kmpl. The AMT model also comes equipped with Hill Assist Control and Electronic Stability Program (ESP).
Speaking on the launch of new variant, Arun Malhotra, managing director, Nissan Motor India said: “The Nissan Terrano complements the dynamic lifestyle of today’s spirited Indian consumers. With bold styling, luxurious interior and great driving dynamics, it exemplifies the perfect car for everyday and everywhere. The addition of this new transmission makes the Terrano an even-more compelling choice for buyers looking for a relaxing and comfortable drive.”
Apart from the introduction of the AMT variant, Nissan has updated the entire Terrano model range with 14 new enhancements. In term of new equipment, the Terrano now comes with electrically folding exterior rear-view mirrors with integrated turn signals, anti-pinch feature for driver-side windows, new driver-side armrest, updated dashboard and door trim. Other updates include white backlit illumination on door switches, one-touch turn indicators and automatic warning for emergency braking.
With the introduction of the AMT variant, Nissan has also introduced a new body colour ‘Sandstone Brown,’ which will be available for the entire range along with the existing colour options which include – Blade Silver, Pearl White, Sapphire Black, Bronze Grey, Sterling Grey and Fire Red.
