Japanese carmaker, Nissan, is planning to launch the AMT version of the Terrano. Of late, automatic transmissions are finding more acceptance among buyers, so Nissan, by introducing the AMT to the Terrano will be hoping to capitalize on the changing transmission trend.
The Terrano AMT will share its mechanical components with the Renault Duster AMT, including the 6-speed ‘Easy-R’ transmission and technologies such as traction control and hill-climb assist. Like the Duster AMT, the two-pedal version of the Terrano will most likely be offered only with the 110PS version of the 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine.
Speaking of the Terrano's current engines, it is available with a 1.6-litre petrol motor which delivers 104PS of power and a 1.5-litre diesel that's available in two states of tune - 85PS or 110PS.
The Terrano AMT is likely to command a premium of around Rs 60,000-80,000 over the equivalent manual variant. The current top-end 'XV' variant is priced at Rs 13.71 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). Expect a price of around Rs 14.5 lakh for the Terrano AMT.
Nissan planned on unveiling the Terrano automatic during the festive season, but, due to some technical issues the Japanese carmaker had to postpone the launch and it will now take place post-Diwali.
