Official: Honda WR-V Specs And Features Unveiled

Size Talk

Size wise, the WR-V is marginally bigger compared to its hatchback sibling. Measuring in at 3999mm x 1734mm x 1601mm (length x width x height) it is 44mm longer, 40mm wider and 57mm taller. The wheelbase is longer by 25mm as well. Ground clearance stands at 188mm -- that's a full 23mm more than the Jazz.

The Mechanicals

The WR-V is based on the same platform as the Jazz and carries over the same 90PS/110Nm 1.2-litre petrol engine, and the 100PS/200Nm 1.5-litre diesel motor. The former gets a 5-speed manual, whereas the latter gets a 6-speed unit. There's no petrol-CVT on offer. As far as fuel efficiency is concerned, the ARAI-certified figure stands at 17.5kmpl for the petrol, and 25.5kmpl for the diesel.

Honda has also rejigged the suspension to give the WRV what they claim to be "sporty and confident driving feel and characteristics". While the McPherson strut front and the torsion beam rear suspension setup is the same, there are a few tweaks - which include stiffer springs at the rear, and a larger stabiliser to control body roll.

Safety First

All variants of the WRV will come with dual airbags and anti-lock brakes as standard. Speaking of which, the cross hatch features ventilated discs up front, while the rear gets 200mm drum brakes. It also gets EBD, which can brake individual wheels to ensure a safe stop.

The WR-V also gets wider 195/60R16 tyres compared to the Jazz's 175/55R15. The wider patch of rubber should help it feel a tad more confident around the bends.

Feature Packed?

Well, you could say that! We'll focus on the top-spec VX version for now since details on the entry-level S variant is still under wraps. Here's a list of features that the WRV gets over the top-spec Jazz:

• Cruise Control (diesel only)
• Start/Stop Button (diesel only)
• Sunroof with one touch operation
• Central front armrest with USB port and 12V Socket

The bootspace is also marginally better at 363-litres (9 more than the Jazz), but sadly there's no magic seats on offer. 

Compare all of this to the Honda WRV from Brazil, and you realize not much is different. Other than the fact that the South American variant features a bigger 1.5-litre petrol motor (borrowed from the Honda City), there's not much else that's different.
