Okinawa has launched its all-new electric scooter called the Lite in India. Priced at Rs 59,990 (ex-showroom), the e-scooter slots itself between the Okinawa Ridge and Praise. The Lite comes with an all-new design and looks quite different from the current crop of Okinawa scooters. It gets nifty hazard lights, an LED headlight, tail light and turn indicators. Other notable features include a bright LED instrument console, a start-stop button like the one you'd see on modern cars, a USB charging port, a remote boot opener and an auto handle lock function. An interesting new feature is the anti-theft battery lock mechanism, which essentially requires you to use your scooter keys to remove the battery.
The Okinawa Lite is pegged as a low speed electric scooter. It’s powered by a 250 watt BLDC motor and a 1.25 kWh detachable lithium ion battery that delivers a claimed range of 50-60km on a single charge and a top speed of 25kmph. The battery can be fully charged in 4-5 hours via a conventional charging socket. Alternatively, you could rely on ABS with regenerative braking to juice up the batteries a bit every time you hit those brakes.

Underpinnings include square-ish telescopic forks up front and dual hydraulic shock absorbers at the rear. Its braking setup comprises of a disc and drum brake. A seat height of 740mm should make it convenient for shorter riders while a ground clearance of 160mm should provide enough leeway on rough Indian roads. Its boot capacity stands at 17-litres, which may fit a half sized helmet plus some knick-knacks.
Okinawa is going the extra mile by offering a 3-year warranty on the motor and battery. And just in case things go south, it also offers roadside assistance for quicker assistance and support.
