After releasing several teaser images, Okinawa, a Rajasthan-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer, has finally launched their second scooter for 2017 - the Praise. Priced at Rs 59,899 (ex-showroom Delhi), the Praise joins the Okinawa Ridge electric scooter in Okinawa’s lineup. The manufacturer had opened bookings for the sporty e-scooter last month for a token amount of Rs 2,000.
In terms of design, the Praise stands out from other e-scooters by opting for a sporty and bold look. It features a wide V-shaped LED headlamp with LED DRLs. Other lists of features include a side stand indicator, an anti-theft sensor, keyless entry, ‘Find My Scooter’ function, an all-digital instrument console and more. The Okinawa Praise also comes equipped with three different riding modes - Economy, Sport and Turbo.
The Praise gets a brushless DC motor. The motor can be powered by either a lead acid battery or a lithium-ion one. While the lead acid battery takes up to 6-8 hours for a full charge, the lithium-ion battery can be charged in an hour. The motor has a claimed output power of 2.5KW, with a torque of 18-40Nm and a range of 170-200km
The company further claims that the e-scooter is capable of achieving a top speed of 75kmph. If these numbers are true, the Okinawa Praise is the fastest electric scooter you can buy today. The Praise utilises gas-charged telescopic forks at the front and a double shock absorber at the rear. Okinawa has equipped the Praise with double disc brakes at the front, a first for any scooter sold in India and a single disc at the rear. It has a saddle height of 775mm gets 12-inch wheels with 90/90 cross-section tyres.
With its promising features and attractive price, the Okinawa Praise is set to give the Hero Photon and the Hero Nyx a tough fight in the Indian e-scooter segment.
