Damon’s Entry-level Electric Hypersport Models Still Cost A Bomb

There has been much hype surrounding Canadian startup electric bikemaker, Damon Motorcycles and its Hypersport range of electric sportbikes. Until now, we have seen the company’s flagship and collector edition models (which you can read here), which needless to say are exorbitantly priced. Wisely, the company has introduced new Hypersport SX and SE models that come at lower prices of USD 19,995 and USD 16,995. That’s Rs 14.82 lakh and Rs 12.60 lakh in Indian currency, without the taxes and custom duties obviously.

The SX and SE models have smaller battery packs and detuned electric motors. The base SE model gets an 11kWh battery that is good to go for 160km on a single charge, which is great. The output of 100 horsepower is also by no means less, allowing the SE to clock a top speed of close to 200kmph! Yes, this is the base model. The intermediate SX model has a larger 15kWh battery, boasts of 240km range, packs 150 horsepower and is able to reach 240kmph.

The Damon Hypersport models look quite exquisite, looking quite similar to the Aprilia RS660. The bike will be getting two unique features: Copilot and Shift. The former is a rider warning system that scans and analyses potential threats, warning the rider of the hazard via haptic feedback on the handlebar (which could go into a mad frenzy on our roads). Shift basically allows the rider ergos to switch from an out and out sportbike to something more commuter friendly. More details on the features here.
