Pininfarina, the Italian design house which was confined to penning awe-inspiring cars to life, made a statement when it unveiled the Battista. The all-electric hypercar with a power output just shy of the 2000PS mark broke the internet as no one saw an all-electric hypercar coming from the coach builder based out of Turin. While half of the Battistas are already accounted for, Pinninfarina’s boss man, Michael Perschke, has now officially confirmed the brand’s future plans which includes an all-electric sedan and an SUV.

“We have a very clear intent to not remain a one-hit wonder,” Perschke was quoted as saying. “It’s our clear strategic intent to become a significant player in the hypercar and super-luxury segment”, he added. Despite the intent from Pininfarina to bring out more mainstream all-electric models, the said SUV and sedan will take their own sweet time and will only debut in the next three years.
The Italian brand aims to accomplish this is by joining hands with a Tier 1 supplier. Instead of developing a new platform, Pininfarina will team up with another automaker to cut down both time and cost. It also has plans to sell the aforementioned platform to other manufacturers to further make it economically viable.
Pininfarina is planning to use 100kWh and 125kWh battery packs that will be able to offer a range of 600km. Perschke also denied having any plans to use Volkswagen AG’s Premium Platform Electric as it does not have the height needed for the Pininfarina SUV that is in the pipeline. And for the manufacturing facility, the carmaker is openly considering other countries which are more supportive of electrification. Italy is lagging behind in this regard, and hence, the company doesn't have any plans of making use of its home turf for production.

Potential clients will be shown the body style examples based upon previous Pininfarina designs. The upcoming event this month at the Concours d'Elegance in Pebble Beach, California, will witness the first phase of this along with the showcase of the production-ready Battista. The all-electric SUV and sedan are likely to be priced between €200,000 and €400,000 (Rs 1.5 crore to Rs 3.2 crore).
