The Slingshot is a three-wheeled roadster and promises to be a fun and sporty drive

Polaris celebrated 60 years of innovation by introducing the Slingshot – a three-wheeled roadster, which could be best described as part car, part motorcycle.

Polaris calls it a three-wheeled motorcycle and it promises to give a riding experience like no other.  Unlike a traditional motorcycle however, the Slingshot sports a steering wheel and the riders will sit side-by-side.

A 2.4 litre dual-overhead cam four cylinder engine powers the Slingshot and the motor produces 175PS of peak power and maximum torque of 225 Nm.  A high strength steel spaceframe, a lightweight aluminum swingarm and a carbon fibre reinforced drive belt complement the wide stance and sport tuned suspension.

With a dry weight of less than 770kg, a very low centre of gravity, and a powerful engine, the Slingshot promises to deliver heart pounding acceleration and astonishing cornering power. It's a sophisticated machine with Electronic Stability Program (ESP), traction control and ABS.

Polaris makes it clear however, that the Slingshot is a motorcycle, with no airbags and it’s not designed to meet automotive crash standards. The rider and passenger need to wear helmets and drivers will need a valid motorcycle licence to ride the Slingshot.
